{"id":69,"date":"2009-07-20T10:32:11","date_gmt":"2009-07-20T17:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/geekroots.com\/wordpress\/?page_id=2"},"modified":"2010-08-11T12:53:52","modified_gmt":"2010-08-11T12:53:52","slug":"about-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/www.yessah.net\/rebecca\/?page_id=69","title":{"rendered":"Maine Conservation Corps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maine.gov\/doc\/parks\/mcc\/\" target=\"_blank\">Maine Conservation Corps<\/a> is an AmeriCorps program with a four-fold mission  to: accomplish conservation projects, create conservation employment,  provide conservation education, and engage conservation volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>The Maine Conservation Corps is made up of two major programs the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maine.gov\/doc\/parks\/mcc\/fieldteam.html\" target=\"_blank\">Field Team<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.maine.gov\/doc\/parks\/mcc\/smeevl.html\" target=\"_blank\">Environmental Educator<\/a> Program. The Field Team includes 15 trail crews working on conservation projects through out Maine during the summer and fall. A highlight of both of my terms of service was the MCC Celebration of Service. Katahdin Lake Wilderness Camps is a truly amazing destination, and I look forward to returning someday.<\/p>\n<p>I also had the opportunity to volunteer for a day of <a href=\"http:\/\/vitalsignsme.org\/blog\/garlic-mustard-galore\" target=\"_blank\">garlic mustard eradication<\/a> with the environmental educators from Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Maine Conservation Corps is an AmeriCorps program with a four-fold mission to: accomplish conservation projects, create conservation employment, provide conservation education, and engage conservation volunteers.
